MSFS is an independent record label, concert production, and music publishing company based in Brooklyn, NY. We book and produce concerts nationally for Loop 2.4.3 and related artists. See upcoming and recent performances by clicking on 'events' at www.loop243.com. We also hold an annual music and art festival in Brooklyn called SFOS (Sewing Factory Open Studios) that is open by submission to artists of any genre.

The label's second full-length release, Zodiac Dust, is Loop 2.4.3's first studio album. Our first release, Batterie, is from a live radio performance by Loop 2.4.3 on KEXP in Seattle. Both releases, as well as scores, and related merchandise are available through our store. Press reactions are below. For a full press kit, click on 'press' at www.loop243.com.

History:
MSFS publishing started through ASCAP in 2005 to cover the works of Lorne Watson and Thomas Kozumplik. Kozumplik started the record label on a shoestring in 2007 to release Loop 2.4.3's debut CD, and formalized the company in 2009 with Croatian-American artist, Jasmina Mirta.

The phrase 'music starts from silence' refers to the idea that if you are silent, you are focused and ready to listen, listening being essential to performing and experiencing music. To that end, MSFS strives to bring you music that you will want to sit down and listen to (or stand up and jump around to!) as an end in itself. "Foreground Music"

The composers/performers on our roster have worked in theater, film, performance art, and dance, and are interested in collaborations and 'for hire' situations in a variety of mediums. Credits include work with Clogs, Newband (Harry Partch ensemble), Uncle Jimmy's Dirty Basement, John Jeserun, Alan Good Dance, Ben Verdery, The National, Diana Nicolae, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), and others. For artist bios please see the 'members' page at www.loop243.com.

"Batterie works best as foreground music...There are action adventures and reveries, and it all sounds like part of a well-thought-out tradition. Only the tradition has never existed until now."
- Fresh Air, NPR
  "Almglocken Melodien...an almost prayer-like 6 minutes"
- Downtown Express
*critic's pick : "Loop 2.4.3, a fascinating percussion ensemble, plays richly detailed, hypnotic original music that will surely appeal to admirers of of So Percussion, Bell Orchestre and the like."
- Time Out New York

"Transportive…"
- Boston Phoenix
  "Mesmerizing..stunning"
- Time Out Chicago
"exciting and vibrant music...[Batterie] showcases Loop 2.4.3’s explosive live performances."
- Exclaim

"Batterie is not only an exercise in pure rhythm (and its endless subtleties) but a feast of gorgeous sounds...an almost perfect balance between compositional discipline and the crackling, what's-gonna-happen-next exhilaration of improvising on the fly."
- Lansing State Journal
"..inhabits areas of tentative, quieted exploration and propulsive rhythmic excess."
- All About Jazz
  "...intricate, energetic performances."
- The New York Times
